One Nation, Under God

Betty Lou Flom

Betty Lou Flom, age 88 passed away of natural causes on January 31st, 2020 at Phillips County Hospital with her grandson by her side. Funeral services will be February 7th, 2020 at the Assembly of God Church in Malta, viewing will be at 1 p.m. for Betty's family and friends with the service to follow at 2:15 p.m. because if it was at 2pm we all know Betty would have been late to it.

Betty was born April 26th, 1931 to Carrol and Hazel (Kapphon) Young in Phillips County, Montana. Betty did all of her schooling in Malta and lived most of her life in Phillips County except for the few years she lived in California where her husband, Gordon, was stationed at the time. On March 28th, 1950 she married the love of her life, Gordon Hamilton Flom and spent almost 30 years with him before his passing in 1980. Betty never remarried or dated anyone after Gordon's passing stating that he was the only man for her and he could never be replaced, although many tried.

Betty lived as a farm wife until 1985 when she got a job as a CNA at the local nursing home and moved to Malta, she later retired in 1996 to spend more time with her family and friends. Betty loved taking care of people and anyone that came through her doorway was always well taken care of. In 2012 she moved into the Hi-line Retirement Center and became the one to be taken care of. She knew how she wanted to be treated and taken care of and if she wasn't getting the right amount of attention, she let people know!

Betty will be dearly missed by so many people as she touched nearly everyone she came across with her caring attitude and sense of humor. Whether she was known as Aunt Betty, Grandma Betty, mom or sister she was still special to everyone who knew her and while life will go on as always, her smile, laughter, sense of humor, and feistiness will never be forgotten. She may have been difficult at times, but she was still an angel and it was time for the Lord to take his Angel back. Everyone that knew Betty was truly lucky to have known her and the memories she has left will stay with each and every one she loved so dearly.

Betty was proceeded in death by her parents, Carrol and Hazel, siblings, Pearl Skinner, June Ekland, Dorothy Scheffelmear, Kitty Scheffelmear, Calvin Young, and Danny Lee Young. Stepsiblings Paul Skinner, Lloyd Skinner, Wilbur Skinner, Louie Skinner, and Betty Bowman.

Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Terri and Ed Bibeau of Malta MT. Her grandson Davy H. Conlon (Tammy Peterson) of Malta MT.
