Dodson's Mayor Cole reminds people of animal ordinance

The problem of dogs running loose in Dodson has gotten out of control.

There have been incidents that have not ended well in recent weeks and all residents are by Town Ordinance required to keep their dogs in a secure cage or on a strong leash. The Dog Ordinance for Dodson also states that each residence can only have two dogs and they are to be licensed and have proof of rabies vaccine.

The fine for violating this ordinance is $25.00 for the first offense and then escalating, depending on the severity. All dogs are to be licensed by July 1, 2020 and the fee is only $5.00 per dog. We are having difficulty in getting people to obey these ordinances, as well as paying for their license and providing proof of rabies vaccine.

All incidents that require a ticket are referred to Justice Court. Everyone should be able to walk around town without the worry of being chased or bitten by a dog. It can also be a huge liability to the dog owner.
