Marlene Rae (Erickson) Freitag

Marlene Rae (Erickson) Freitag 81 years old, died of natural causes at the Hi-line Retirement Center of Malta, Mont., in the early hours of Saturday, May 16, 2020. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, May 29 at 10 a.m., at Malta Cemetery.

Marlene was born August 20, 1938, in Fargo, N.D., to Ken and Alma Erickson and was later joined with her was her brother Ronnie. She graduated high school in Leonard, N.D. She later met her future husband Dale who grew up in a town a few miles away. After high school, she went to college to pursue a teaching degree, Marlene and Dale got married in August of 1958. They had two sons: Mike and Mark both of Malta. From North Dakota, they move to Malta in 1965, where Marlene taught elementary school from 1965 until her retirement in 2001.

She loved to plant flowers in the spring which was her favorite season. she enjoyed having lunch out with her lifelong friends and fellow teachers, Janet and Elizabeth. Her neighbors Fran and Amber used to come over for tea, parties, and mostly just to visit, she really liked to visit. Marlene had a vast book collection and made regular trips to the library. She loved her family and friends a lot. Her smiles and laughter will be greatly missed. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mom, and aunt has answered the final bell and is now reunited with the love of her life her husband Dale.

Marlene was preceded in death by her husband Dale who passed away in 2018. She is survived by her sons Mike and Mark, her brother Ronnie and his wife Carol, and many nieces and nephews.
