County splitting was becoming a popular North Montana pastime. Saco Residents were working for a new county to be carved from the eastern part of Phillips and western part of Valley counties and North Valley County residents were out to get themselves a new County. Not to be outdone, Dodson was agitating for a County to be formed from Phillips and Blaine counties.

A barn on the Louise Hershman farm was partially destroyed by fire....
