PCSO gets AED thanks to charity
June 24, 2020
Through a very generous grant to the State of Montana from the Helmsley Charitable Trust in February of 2020, every law enforcement vehicle in the state of Montana will be equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office received the AEDs and will be training on the use and storage of the devices at the end of June. Because of this generous grant, the Deputy first on the scene will be able to assist someone who is experiencing cardiac problems using the device to diagnose the life-threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia and treat them through defibrillation before emergency medical services arriving.
The hope is that this will increase the chances of a patient surviving a cardiac event.
