Malta schools makes hires for vacant spots

The Malta Public Schools have had a busy summer since school officially ended in May as they moved to hire for many positions including high school and elementary principals and Malta Public Schools Superintendent as Kris Kuehn stepped-down from this spot this year.

Matt Genger, whose father graduated from Malta High School, has been hired as the new superintendent, according to Malta Public Schools. Genger was hired in May and is originally from Fairfield, Mont. Genger has been a principal and teacher (including some time at Whitewater Schools) and was superintendent in Shelby for a number of years, and most recently at Augusta.

With the departure of MHS Principal Tracy Fisher, MMS Principal Shawn Bleth will take over as high school principal and Malta High School Activities Director Travis Somerfeld will take over the principal position at the middle school (while retaining his AD duties.)

The departure of Sup. Kuehn left a vacancy in the transportation director position for Malta Schools and Patrick Sargent will be taking over the position in 2020-21.

At the elementary school, Cadance Wipplinger has left the principal position and has been replaced by Corey Clark, formerly of Fairfield, who most recently taught at Geraldine and Malta will be his first principal position.

The departure of MHS English teacher Kevin Ebert allowed the school to hire Rawnie Crasco to fill the empty position. Crasco currently lives in Zortman and is originally from Dodson.
