Loring News for August 12, 2020

August 12, 2020

The cooler nights are making me dread the coming winter. I do love the cooler temps, but not anxious for winter. Hard to satisfy, I know! The cooler weather makes it perfect for canning the garden produce, baking bread, and cookies!

Congratulations to Ruth and John Flansaas on their 67th wedding anniversary! Now that's an accomplishment! Alan and Connie Wasson also celebrated their anniversary this week. An amazing 50 years for them!

My sunflowers are starting to ripen and attract red-winged blackbirds! Soon the finches will fly back through!

The prairie seems pretty dry so be careful out there. Harvest is getting close! I see the winter wheat is really turning golden. Some of the peas have been harvested.

Get well wishes to everyone who is not feeling well. Be careful with the Covid19. Phillips County went from 0 to over 44 positive cases in a week! Mask up and keep your social distance!

My flycatcher family is still here and now I think they have a family reunion! But the amount of flies is down, even though we have cows down here now. That makes everything worth it!

The Loring Lutheran Church will not be having services for a few weeks due to the COVID-19. We can listen to many services on the radio, not quite the same, but still feeds my soul.

That’s a wrap for this week, be safe and tell your loved ones how you feel!
