One Nation, Under God
Fall is sneaking in like an insidious habit. The prairie is very dry, which is good for the harvest, but bad for the fire danger! Our temperatures this week saw close to triple digits, but on Sunday the cold front moved in and the temps dropped to 45! And surprise, it rained about a half-inch!
Rod and I drove to Billings on Thursday. Near Roundup we saw smoke boiling up over the horizon. A huge fire was burning in the rough terrain south of the town. Several homes and outbuildings were destroyed. I felt bad for the folks!
David Stordahl and I attended an 8th-grade football game in Huntley Project on Saturday. Rocco plays for Elder Grove. It was fun. We just stayed in the pickup so no masks required.
Brandie and Dave Stordahl hosted a birthday party for yours truly on Friday! Rodney and Jeannie, Saige and Zoey, Debbie and Ayden Richau, Brentton, and Abby came over for delicious dinner! On Saturday evening Jake Wilcox and Jezibell came over to visit! It was a fun time to see everyone.
Carol Lumsden and Etta and Tine Russell stopped to visit for a few minutes on Thursday before I went to Billings.
For my avian news, I spotted a couple of pelicans on the trip to Billings. Around my yard a saw a flicker. In the pea field south of my house I saw many harrier hawks. I think the mice eat the peas that are on the ground and the Hawks take advantage of the easy meal.
I hope everyone has a great Labor Day! Many adventurous cowboys and cowgirls traveled the path of the Milk River Wagon Train! The wagons circled up north of Malta Sunday and paraded into town on Monday! Congratulations on another successful trip!
Be safe!
