The Whitewater Penguins Cross Country team welcomes a new head coach this season and prior to their first meet, she hadn't been to a cross country meet.
Still, Coach Carly Hammond, a teacher at Whitewater Schools, has the tools and running experience to lead the team in the sport. Hammond has run races around the state in events as long as a half-marathon. Coach Hammond hopes that her love for running will encourage the Penguins to love the sport.
