One Nation, Under God
A double-ring wedding ceremony on Aug. 29 united Wilma Henry, daughter of Mrs. Gladys Henry, and Gary Plouffe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Plouffe, all of Malta. The bride was given away in marriage by her grandfather, Miles D. Henry. She wore a floor-length white wedding gown in empire style with a lace bodice and long sleeves of lace. The circular train was trimmed in lace and there was a large lace bow at the back. The elbow-length bridal veil was held with a petal cap trimmed with pearls. She carried a cascade bouquet of white daisies and white baby roses. PCN 1970.

H. M. Kirton was unanimously chosen to fill the vacancy created by the death of Dr. G. W. Clay. A meeting of the republican committee was called by Chairman Harry Whitcomb. A motion to name Kirton was made by Charles Ross of Dodson and seconded by Harry Vagg of Saco.
