Walleyes Unlimited announces raffle winners

Six months ago, the future Malta Chapter of Walleye’s Unlimited was in peril as it faced the same challenge that many of Malta’s organizations have shared this year: how to reach their fundraising goals and stay afloat without being able to rely on their annual April banquet. Gratefully, as they reorganized, reenergized, and saw some “new blood” take over in leadership roles, the raffle drawings that replaced the annual banquet were successful. The money raised will help the group continue to hold the time-honored events such as Camp Walleye and Take a Kid Fishing Day, fund annual scholarships, maintain local fishing holes and fund improvement projects.

Shannon Oxarart was the winner of the Early Bird $250 Westside Self Service gift card drawing. Winners of the $100 gift cards (donated by Equity Co-Op, Horizon Resources, and Westside Self Service) were:  June Mavencamp, Jim Heikens, Greg Kielb, Tom LaFond, Bob Johnson, Ward Van Wichen, and Art Lundstrom.

Other lucky winners include Jason Ulrich, who went home with a BBQ w/ bottle donated by Albertson’s; Lois Waters won a Mossberg 22-250 gun donated by Malta Walleyes Unlimited; Rick Reimann, got away with a pair of Vortex Binoculars from Hardware Hank; Pat Newton, Camp Rocking Chairs from Farmers & Ranchers & Malta Walleyes Unlimited; Audie Simpson, an Oak Entry Bench from Art's Furniture & Malta Walleyes Unlimited; Tom LaFond, a Samsung Galaxy Tablet from Triangle Communications and a 60” x 66” Lap Quilt handmade by Billie Rae Maxie (lucky!); Chris Sandvick, a 10 x 10 Canopy from Bishop Building Supply; Laurie Barrett, a Pro Series Traeger from Ezzie's Wholesale; Cheyenne Score won a Walleye Cut-out donated by Jeff Swanson, and Jim Carver took home a $50 gift card from Horizon Resources.

Looking forward to their 32nd year, the group would like to thank everyone who purchased tickets and the local businesses who donated to the worthy cause of celebrating and instilling the love of fishing in Phillips County. They are always looking for new members, and funding is still tight. Now is a great time to get involved, as a member, a volunteer or a sponsor. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Stretch’s Pizza. If you aren’t able to attend a meeting, you can also join by visiting https://montanawalleyesunlimited.net/, by contacting ** or any local member.
