The year 2020 did not take away Malta's sense of whimsy and yuletide spirit! The Malta Dirt Daubers would like to announce the winners of the annual Christmas Barrel Decorating contest and gives thanks to all of the merchants who participated this year.

The Phillips County Courthouse brought home the grand prize of a $50 gift certificate from Westside Self Service. Jodee Lee designed and decorated an elaborate two-barrel Gingerbread scene, and Steen McFaddin designed and built the wooden bridge.

Second place went to Moore's Printing. Julie Squires and Kristi Arnold showed their true colors with an American flag Christmas tree barrel and received a $40 gift certificate to the Tin Cup Bar & Grill and Marian Hill Golf course for their efforts.

The Phillips County Library received 3rd place honors with Sarah Osmundson's festive Christmas gnome design. Our hard-working librarians will enjoy some cool treats from the Malta Dairy Queen with a $30 gift certificate.

Kid Curry Lounge and the City of Malta each received honorable mention for their entries. The Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club thanks everyone who participated and they look forward to seeing your entries next year. If you are interested in becoming a member or supporter of the Dirt Daubers, please contact Jane at 654-1866. They work hard to make Malta beautiful, and would love to add some new green thumbs!
