LOCAL BANK ELECTS BIG FLAT MANAGER TO HOLDING COMPANY BOARD

At the January board meeting for F.S. Banco, Inc, the directors voted to elect Gretchen Carnahan Boardman, General Manager of Big Flat Electric Cooperative as their replacement for retiring director Frank White of Saco/Fort Peck. Mr. White served on the Holding Company board since 2003.

Gretchen and her husband Jay have two children, Kasen and Kambyr, and are very happy to be back in the Phillips County community. She is a 1994 graduate of Malta High School where she was involved in many activities. Closest to her heart was undoubtedly her time spent in the Old Gym playing for the M-Ettes.

Gretchen took over as the GM at Big Flat Electric in 2016 following a career in the mining industry, utilizing the mining engineering degree she earned from Montana Tech in Butte. Gretchen decided on the mining industry when she was in high school because she felt like she would love to move back to Malta and work at the mine in Zortman. She was more than a little concerned with her decision when the mine closed, leaving her original plans up in the air. As the cliché goes, when one door closes, another opens. The job at Big Flat has been an exciting new adventure for her, one which has forced her to learn a new industry and expand her horizons.

Ms. Boardman tells the PCN that she is excited to serve on the The First State Bank's holding company board, and looks forward to learning about yet another industry. She feels that her experience in the accounting and management fields will help her be an effective board member for F.S. Banco, Inc.

The First State Bank of Malta filled Mr. White's vacated position on the Bank Board with current Holding Company director Larry Smith. Larry has been a director for F.S. Banco, Inc. since 2014.

President Robert Galt told the PCN that FSB "is very excited to have Gretchen join our organization and he is confident that her experience in both her current and previous jobs will be invaluable moving forward."
