Season ends for Coyotes, Mavericks

The season ended for the North Country Mavericks and Dodson Coyotes at the Eastern C Divisional Tournament in Sidney last weekend, both teams falling to the Fairview Warriors in consolation.

The Mavericks lost to the Warriors 45-34 on Saturday, March 6, in the consolation finals, while Dodson lost earlier that Morning 57-53 in the consolation finals.

NORTH COUNTRY MAVERICKS

The Mavericks went 2-2 at the Divisional Tournament defeating Fairview 48-40 in the opening round Thursday led by the trio of Trey Johnson, Jesse Lee, and Loden Idler. Johnson and Lee each had 13 points, while Idler added 12 points.

The team lost their semifinal game 49-41 Friday to the Froid-Lake Red Hawks. Johnson had 13 points and Idler had nine points.

On Saturday morning the Mavericks defeated the Mon-Dak Thunder 38-32, but fell later 45-34 to Fairview.

Idler had 18 points in the loss to Fairview.

DODSON COYOTES

The Dodson Coyotes went 1-2 at the Eastern C Divisional, picking up an opening-round win over the Mon-Dak Thunder. The score was 51-36.

In their win over Mon-Dak, Dodson was led by Zarek Jones who had 15 points. Alex Werk had 13 points, and Juliun Benson had 12 points.

Dodson lost 70-28 to the Scobey Spartans in the semifinals. The Coyotes were led by Michael Jaynes who had eight points. Werk had seven points and Jeramiah Benson had six points.

Dodson lost in the consolation semifinals to the Fairview Warriors. The score was 57-53.

The Coyotes were led by Jaynes and Jones who each scored 17 points.

Dodson had a 31-22 lead going into the half but were outscored 25-11 in the third period. Dodson fought back in the fourth and outscored Fairview 11-9.
