One Nation, Under God

Two Day of Points Racing at the Hi-Line Dragstrip

The weather was perfect for two full days of points racing at the Hi-Line Dragstrip this past weekend.

On Saturday, the strip had 51 cars and two Jr. Dragsters racing down it for trophies in four different classes with a $20 buy-back option, after the first elimination round, just in case the losers of round one wanted another crack at it. Almost, if not all did.

In the Sportsman class, the final came down to Craig Shaw vs. Kenda Young. Shaw from Havre pulled out the win with a 7.95 dial-in, 7.9820 ET, .0311 RT, and a top MPH of 87.63.

In the Jr. Dragsters, it was a brother vs. sister rivalry out of Glasgow. Blake Lloyd vs. Ava Lloyd with Ava coming out on top with an 8.27 dial-in, 8.3074 ET, a RT of .0239, and a top MPH of 78.03.

The No Box Pros were on the track with a final pitting Larry L. Lloyd vs. Stacey Klungland. Lloyd, from Nashua, got the win with a 6.38 dial-in, 6.4015 ET, .0615 RT, and a top MPH of 108.07.

Finally, the Box Super Pros final had Dan Olsen vs. Adam Potter in it, with Potter from Minot, ND, getting the win. He had a dial-in of 5.27, a 5.2728 ET, a .0350 RT, and a top MPH of 126.76.

On Sunday, there were 58 cars and two Jr. Dragsters, with one repeat winner from Saturday, and three new ones. The weather again was hot with just a little breeze and the occasional nice cloud blocking out the sun. There was no buy-back on this day, so if they lost in the first round, it was a one-and-done day.

The days repeat winner came in the Jr. Dragsters with sister Ava Lloyd again getting the best of her brother Blake. Ava had an 8.20 dial-in, an 8.2463 ET, a .0147 RT, and a top MPH of 77.99. Blake had the lower ET and faster top MPH, but Ava beat him solidly in the reaction time.

In the Sportsman class, Kenda Young made it to the final again, but as was the result yesterday, was beat out. This time by Alvin Hollatz from Plentywood. Hollatz had a dial-in of 8.32, an ET of 8.3440, a RT of .1116, and a top MPH of 81.67.

In the No Box Pro series, there were two new names in the final. Steve Purkett ran against Bruce Nickerson. Nickerson, from Spokane, WA, won with a dial-in of 7.58, an ET of 7.6489, a RT of .0130, and a top MPH of 86.06.

In the Box Super Pro class, Jesse Dobson, the winner from the car show weekend, went up against John Enno. Enno, from Williston, ND, took the title this day with a dial-in of 6.10, an ET of 6.1151, a RT of .0084, and a top MPH of 112.98.

Though the weather has been perfect and the racing has been great, everyone in the pits and in the stands is hoping that we can get our Canadian friends and racers to join us soon!

The next races at the PCMS Hi-Line Dragstrip will be on July 17 and 18. Come on out and see some neat cars and good racing!
