One Nation, Under God
Jessica Domire has come back to Malta and is putting out her shingle as an independent Family Practitioner. She is seeing patients at the Newbern Family Healthcare location.
Jessica is the daughter of Roger French and LeeAnn French of Malta and the granddaughter of Bill and Corky French of Malta, and Linda and George Ortner of Chinook, MT.
She is married to Randy Domire, who is the Farm and Feed Manager at Equity Co-op. Together they have six children, Brendan and Trenton Domire (of Nevada), Wyatt Dunbar (Chinook), plus Lela, Nathan, and Edan Domire (living at home in Malta).
Jessica was born and raised in Malta. She completed her Associates and then Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from MSU-Northern. She earned her Registered Nurses license in 2012 and her first position as an RN was at the Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta, where she enjoyed two and a half years serving the residents there.
She then moved on to work in the Emergency Room for North Eastern MT Health Services at Poplar, MT, where she spent almost two years before starting as a traveling nurse while she worked on her Master's Degree.
While traveling, she worked in many different specialties from fast-paced, post-surgical in Reno, NV, to an ICU in Los Angeles, CA, as well as at small rural critical access hospitals in between.
"Working in LA was a completely different universe," Domire said. "I learned a lot there in the ICU."
She also returned to Poplar, Malta, and Scobey to complete clinical hours. A couple of her notable clinical preceptors were Sherry Gairrett, FNP, and Judy Lauridsen, FNP.
Gairrett said of Domire, "I have known Jessi for many years. She has always been an excellent nurse and provided exceptional care to her patients. As one of her preceptors for her clinical training as a nurse practitioner, I have seen that carry over into how she performs as an NP. She is very conscientious, knowledgeable, and respectful of her patients and has a great relationship with them. She holds herself to high standards and this shows in the quality of care she provides. She will do very well, I have no doubt."
Domire earned her Master's Degree from Gonzaga University in May of 2019 and sat for boards from the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners that summer. She started working at Indian Health Service in November of 2019 and was there until February of 2021. She then went to Atlanta, GA, and assisted with the COVID response in ICU for 13 weeks.
"Atlanta was really different," Domire said. "There's a lot of people scared about COVID there. I did take care of legitimate COVID patients there. If they made it to the ICU and COVID was the reason they were there, most of them did pass away, but most of those were patients that had other concerns before getting COVID."
She went on to say, "After being in Atlanta, I'm so thankful for rural Montana. There is so much social unrest there, with people getting shot every day and every night. Not just a few people, a lot of people."
Now that she is home, Jessica is looking forward to setting up her independent Family Practice and staying home. She most enjoys spending time with her husband and family. Jessi and Randy are devoted to supporting their children's several activities. Jessi also enjoys raising and training performance quarter horses and helping out on the French Ranch.
Speaking on her many stops along the way to get back home, Domire said, "Remarkably, I didn't see anything that I hadn't seen in Montana before I left. I was well prepared, between working on my clinicals and working in Poplar, I saw a good range of things. One thing that I thought was notable was the time I spent at the retirement center. It made me very well-rounded. I'm more comfortable with some things than nurses that haven't spent time there. I found that to be very helpful."
As of right now, Domire is only taking cash appointments. She hopes to have things taken care of to accept insurance patients very soon and will put an ad out as soon as that happens.
