Mary Hofer

With saddened hearts, we announce the passing of Mary Hofer. Mary was born to Pre. Joshua and Maria at Downey Lake Colony, around Maple Creek, SK, on January 4, 1966. She was the seventh of eight children. She lived at the Downey Lake Colony until she married the love of her life, Joe Hofer, on November 1, 1987, and moved to Loring, MT, where she lived as a wife, mother, grandmother, and friend until her peaceful passing in the early morning hours on June 30, 2021.

Mary had a humble spirit and a kind heart, she was always at her husband’s side, helping him raise the colony's poultry and was there to support him through good times and bad until death did them part. Together they raised five children-Lorraine, Levi, Jennifer, Carla, and Justin and were blessed with four grandchildren - Logan, Emary, Boaz, and Samuel, who were the joys of her life.

Mary will be remembered for her soft smile and gentle nature. She was a proud kindergarten teacher, a job she loved and often offered to fill in for the other ladies during busy times. Mary spent many hours caring for her mother-in-law Barbra and late father-in-law Josh, and will always be remembered for her faithful work. Her sudden passing shook the whole community and will leave a huge hole in the heart of her loved ones and dear friends.

Mary leaves to mourn her dear husband Rev. Joe: sons - Levi (Naomi) and Justin of Loring, MT; daughters- Lorraine (Matthew) of West Bench, SK, Jennifer (George) of Box Elder, SK, and Carla of Loring. MT. She also leaves behind her sisters - Bertha (Leonard) and David (Annie) of Mayfield AB, Martha (Pete) of Riverview, SK, Kathryn (Josh) of Box Elder, AB. She leaves to mourn her brothers - Pre. Darius (Dora), Joshua (Maria), and Dan (Justina) of Downey Lake, SK.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law Josh Hofer. Her family would like to thank the Loring Colony and all of their friends for their support during this difficult time.
