Full Time Deputy Sheriff

The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications to create a hiring pool from which successful applicants will be chosen to fill vacancies. Applications will be held for one year from submission. There is currently one opening for a Deputy Sheriff. Applications will be accepted through July 23, 2021 at 5 P.M.

Duties for a Phillips County Deputy Sheriff include crime prevention and investigation, traffic patrol, drug interdiction, among other law enforcement related duties. Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

*Must be a United States citizen

*Must have a High School diploma or GED

*Must be at least 18 years of age

*Must possess or be eligible to obtain a Montana

Driver’s License

*Must not have any felony convictions

*Must be of good moral character as determined by a

thorough background investigation

*Must pass medical and mental health evaluations

Possession of current Montana P.O.S.T. Basic

certification preferred but not necessary to apply. If not P.O.S.T. certified, will be required to successfully

complete the MLEA Basic course. Applicants will be

expected to travel to Malta, MT, for testing and

interviews.

Benefits include 100% medical insurance premiums paid by employer for employee and family members, vacation/sick time accrual, and annual longevity pay increases. Starting wage is $18.62/hour. Pay will increase by 5% upon completion of one-year of probation.
