Pursuant to MCA 13-14-115, a primary election is not needed due to the fact that the number of candidates who filed is less than three times the number to be elected in each office. Therefore, the Primary Election scheduled for September 14, 2021 for the City of Malta, Town of Dodson and Town of Saco in Phillips County are cancelled.
The General Elections for the City of Malta, Town of Dodson and Town of Saco are to be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The deadline to file as a Write-In Candidate for the General Election is August 30, 2021, by 5 pm, at the Election Office in the Courthouse. Any person wishing to file as a Write-In Candidate, who is a registered voter in Phillips County and resides within the city limits and ward, may obtain the required forms and fee information from the Election Office located in the Courthouse at 314 South 2nd Avenue West or by calling 406-654-2423.

The Malta City Council will conduct two public hearings on August 24, 2021 at 5:03pm and 5:05pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall. The purpose of the public hearings is to receive public comment(s) on the annual street maintenance assessment and the annual street lighting assessment for 2021/22.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Monday, August 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the County Commissioner’s Office, Phillips County Courthouse, 314 South 2nd Avenue West, Malta, Montana, a public hearing will be held at which time any taxpayer or resident of Phillips County may appear and be heard on the proposal to levy (16.25) mills for the premium contributions for group benefits according to MCA 2-9-212 and the proposal to levy (0.57) mills to fund 3% increase in employer contributions to Sheriff’s Retirement System according to MCA 15-10-420, 19-7-403, 19-7-404. Final approval is scheduled for Monday, August 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
