Janice was born April 17, 1943 in Great Falls, Montana to Francis A. "Frenchy" and Hazel Boule. She grew up in Great Falls and had one older brother Duane Boule. She met her future husband, Russell O. Erickson, as a child and married the man she had known all her life on June 17, 1961. The couple spent their first few years of marriage traveling to New Jersey and Verdon, France where Russell was stationed for 2 years in the Army. Following Russell's military service, the couple returned to Montana and made their home in Billings, Montana. In 1966, two months before the birth of their first daughter, Glenda, the couple moved to Havre, Montana. A second daughter, Laura, followed in 1969. The couple made their home west of Havre, where Janice tended to her family and worked as a secretary for Havre Public Schools and was a child daycare provider for many, many years. Janice also worked side by side with her husband of 52 years in their rental management business. Following Russell's retirement, Janice worked for Northern Montana Long Term Care in food services and eventually enjoyed volunteering at Northern Montana Hospital.

Janice enjoyed traveling and was able to visit much of Europe during their time in France. She loved camping, playing cards, and made the best pies. Her pride and joy were her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
