Steven G. Haag

Steven G. Haag, 65, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, pastor and friend went to be with the Lord on November 14, 2021.

Steve was born on October 5, 1956 in Chester, Montana. He was the third of six children and the oldest son. He learned early on a love for farming along with mechanical skills from helping his father on the farm. When the family moved to West Yellowstone in 1970, Steve's interest turned to motorcycles and snowmobiles. After graduating from high school, Steve went on to study at Northern Montana College where he earned a teaching degree in Industrial Arts and began a 10-year teaching career in Whitewater, Montana. He met his beloved soulmate, Sue at the United Pentecostal Church in Havre, MT. Steve was living in Whitewater by this point and Sue had just moved from Whitefish. It wasn't long before the "fish" and the "water" decided to get together. They were married January 24, 1981. Steve and Sue raised their family in Whitewater (with a brief stint in Hingham), and they also opened their home to numerous foster children over the years, including D'Andre, whom they adopted. Steve worked for the natural gas company until his retirement in 2018.

In 2005, Steve and Sue moved to Malta, Montana. It was there that they started the Hi-Line Apostolic Church and he became an ordained minister. Steve was passionate about his faith and relationship with God. He didn't just preach God's word, he lived it. Steve always had someone in need of shelter living in his basement apartment.

Steve was a motorcycle daredevil and loved riding his snowmobiles at work. He was fearlessly competitive (especially when playing Spoons or Risk) and he had a silly side and a very mischievous laugh when he was up to no good. Steve was a wonderful husband and a terrific father.

Steve will always be remembered for his caring heart to help others, beautiful woodworking projects, and his passion for serving God and his family. Above all else, Steve loved God and loved people. He was not interested in Religion, only a deeper relationship with God.

Steve is survived by his wife, Sue; children: Jonathan and Ali Haag, Tamika and Rhett Schoppe, Hannah and Nick Perez, Rachael and Ryan Villarin; grandchildren: Hailey and Aaron Haag, Rhema and Asher Schoppe, Jacob, Gianna and Brooklyn Perez, Malachi and Sarah Villarin; siblings: Kathy Haag, Sam Haag, Mary Haag, Dan (Cathy) Haag; along with numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.

He is preceded in passing by his parents Marvin and Bertha, his sister Ruth, his son D'Andre and mother-in-law Margaret May Rupp.

A celebration of his life was held on Saturday, Nov 20th, at Wilderness Funeral Home at 2 p.m. A light lunch will follow.
