Howard Vaughn Rummel

Howard Vaughn Rummel, 86, passed away on December 7, 2021 at his home in Malta, MT. He was born on July 13, 1935 to Loren and Adeline (DeBray) Rummel in Landusky, MT.

He graduated from Malta High school in 1954 and went to work for the Great Northern Railroad. He married the love of his life, Melody Rogers, in June, 1958. They raised their three sons, Greg, Tom and Mark in Malta. He was inducted into the Army in September, 1958. Upon his honorable discharge in 1960, he returned to work for the Great Northern Railroad and retired after 42 years in 1982. Melody was diagnosed with kidney failure in 1975 and Howard was by her side through many surgeries until her passing in 2002. They enjoyed being together and living life to the fullest.

He moved to Malta in 2007 to be with Jane Ereaux until his recent death.

He was happiest when he was outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed working on all types of vehicles and machinery. He loved the Little Rocky Mountains and the Larb Hills, where he spent much of his time.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Melody. He is survived by his brother, Leroy of Malta, sister, Darrel of Great Falls, special friend, Jane Ereaux of Malta, sons Greg of Cut Bank, Tom of Great Falls and Mark (Carol) of Denver, CO. Grandchildren, Michelle (Sam) Sabin, Kyle (Lauren) Rummel, Dylan (Keilah) Rummel, Trevor Horgus, 4 Great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Memorial may be made to charity of your choice.
