King Lear Invades Trafton Park

On Wednesday, June 29, at 6:30 p.m. Montana Shakespeare in the Parks, which is celebrating its 50th year, will present King Lear.

The tour, as always, started on June 15, with four nights of King Lear at Montana State University. This is followed by four nights this week, 22-25, of the other show they are doing, Twelfth Night, at MSU. They then hit the road for Hobson on the 27th and Lewistown on the 28th, before coming to Malta.

The tour this year is 77 shows over a total of 85 days, ending in Missoula and September 7.

Event organizer and member of the Shrew Crew, Anna LaBrie said, "We are excited to have it down in Trafton Park this year. I think there will be a little bit more shade down there."

LaBrie added that Crossroads will have their food/beverage truck there and that there may be others as well.

"People can also bring their coolers with their own beverages and food and make a picnic out of the day," said LaBrie.

In King Lear, the king divides his kingdom among the two daughters who flatter him and banishes the third one who loves him. His eldest daughters both then reject him at their homes, so Lear goes mad and wanders through a storm. His banished daughter returns with an army, but they lose the battle, and Lear, all of his daughters, and more die.

It promises to be an exciting night at Trafton Park on June 29, at 6:30 p.m.
