One Nation, Under God

Sims: It's Just the Beginning!

My dream ever since I was little, has been to be able to perform in the Fort Peck Theatre. A tradition my mom and I have done every year for at least the past seven years was to see a show at the Fort Peck Theatre for my birthday present.

In first grade, I got the courage to audition for a part in the Missoula Children's Theatre and was given a role. Every year that they come, I have been given a part. In sixth grade, I auditioned for, and received the part of Toad, who is one of the lead characters in "The Wind in the Willows." I had the best time up on that stage.

When my mom and I found out that I could audition for the Fort Peck Theatre, I went for it. It was phenomenal when I read the email that said I was offered a role as a member of the Who family in "Seussical" the musical!

On my first day of practice, everyone was very welcoming, and I made new friends. Every time I went into the rehearsal hall, the practice became more advanced, but I was up to the challenge. They would always answer my questions and give me the help I needed.

When it was my first show, most everyone had some butterflies, but as soon as I entered the stage, all nervousness went away. My birthday wish from last year came true because on my second show for this year I acted in the Fort Peck Theatre instead of just being in the audience. Every performance that I do, just keeps on getting better and better. I love all aspects of the play, but my favorite part is the singing.

I plan to keep on auditioning for every play that I can, whether it is in Malta or Fort Peck, because it has been a wonderful experience!
