Local Beef Donated, Mustang Foundation kicks off 2022-23 School Year

On August 24th, 2022, the first day of school for Malta students, RCAN and Phillips County CattleWomen delivered the first load of cows to Bear Paw Meats for processing toward the local Beef into Schools initiative. We are really appreciative of our first donors: Kayla and Paul Warren, Salveson Ranch, and Brown Ranch. Each of these donors is being highlighted on Facebook; please check out their stories to find out more about each local, Phillips County operation and the families that stepped up to supply not just their own, but all Malta Schools students, with fresh, nutritious protein.

On August 24th RCAN and CattleWomen also drew the winner of the 50/50 raffle fundraiser. Thank you to all of the individuals, businesses, and organizations who purchased raffle tickets! We raised $1595 in ticket sales, which would have amounted to $797.50 in winnings. However, the Mustang Foundation was drawn and donated their entire winnings back to the project. Thank you, Mustang Foundation, and the supportive community of Phillips County!

Processing should be completed in approximately 14 days, so we hope to be incorporating local beef into the Malta Schools lunch program by mid-September. If you still have an interest in making cash donations toward future processing, the Beef Into Schools account will be accessible year-round at First State Bank in Malta.
