Betty L. Munson (October 27, 1932 - January 15, 2023)

Betty L. Munson, age 90, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, MT. She was born October 27, 1932, in Culbertson, MT to William Schwenke and Theresa Mischke Schwenke.

She still enjoyed doing meal making and baking. She especially enjoyed making different types of bread to share with family and friends. She knitted many items for her children in their youth and maintained a passion for sewing, especially quilts. She has made a quilt for everyone in her family.

Later in life, she learned to use the computer and began writing short stories. She has written over 45 short stories with one of them published in "Guideposts" magazine and at least three short articles in "The Intercessor" magazine. She wrote a collection of 20 stories about her and Clifford's life on the farm, titled "Stories for My Family" and each of her children and grandchildren received a copy. She has two published books: "Aleya, The One with The Beautiful Feet" and "That Summer on the N Bar N." Having lived most of her life in Phillips County she had been residing in her own apartment in Havre for the past nine years.

She will be missed by her family and many good friends.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clifford in 2009, and her youngest child Noreen in the fall of 2021.

She is survived by her children: Ina Johnson of Covington, WA; Terry (Kathy) Munson of Havre, MT; Daryl (Sue) Munson of Poulsbo, WA; Dana (Joy) Munson of Lacey, WA; Les Munson of Perry, IA; and Ken Munson (Susan) of Harbor City, CA. 19 Grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Wilderness Funeral Home in Malta, MT at 1:00 pm. A reception to follow at Sacred Heart Church in Dodson, MT. A private family interment will be at Hillside Cemetery.
