One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, February 15, 2023

How about that huge Chinese balloon floating over Montana and Billings, Montana? That’s where Janet Brown and her family live. What a crazy world.

Here in Whitewater, there were basketball games with Scobey. The gym was packed with friends and family.

Samantha Wisher sang the National Anthem with her beautiful voice. Taco soup was served. There was an auction. It was a fun time for all.

Congratulations to Joan and Howie Hammond of Whitewater on winning an award for their farming and ranching. I will get more information later.

Jeanie Green is lambing. The lambs are so cute. Here is a little poem I learned in grade school about sheep.

Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep and can’t tell where to find them.

Leave them alone, and they will come home, wagging their tails behind them. (This is dedicated to Jeanie and all sheep ranchers).

Here’s a hearty soup recipe.

Ingredients:

1 quart of water

1 pound of stew meat

1 large onion chopped.

4 large carrots sliced.

7 medium potatoes cubed.

½ cabbage shredded

Salt and pepper to taste.

1 rutabaga (optional)

Cook meat about 45 minutes or until tender and then add rest of the ingredients.

Cook until tender.

You could add mini dumplings if desired.

A good meal for this cold weather.

Serves 6 to 8

Enjoy!

Helen A.
