Whitewater Junior High Track in Havre

The Whitewater Penguins track and field teams competed in Havre last Monday, April 17.

"Overall, the Penguins had an outstanding first track meet of the season," Whitewater Coach Charlene Wasson said. "The weather was great with no wind, and temps held up well. Looking forward to a few more track meets before districts."

Coach Wasson shared the results from all three individuals that attended the meet.

Mylee Clark competed in the 8th-grade girl's division of the meet. She was eighth in the 100 meter dash running a time of 16.17. She took first place in shot put, throwing a new PR of 24'8.5". in discus she placed sixth throwing a 54'5".

These three events gave Mylee 14 team points, placing her 10th out of 11 teams.

"She did an amazing job today representing Whitewater," Coach Wasson said.

Samuel Simonson competed in the 7th-grade boy's division. He won the 110 meter hurdles, running a new PR of 20.43. He also took 1st place in the 200 meter hurdles, running a new PR of 31.26. In pole vault he placed first with a new PR of 9'. In discus he placed second with a throw of 90'8". In triple jump Samuel placed first with a new PR jump of 33'10.5".

"It was just amazing to watch and see how much he has grown and matured as an athlete on the track and in the field events," Coach Wasson said.

He scored 48 points today placing him fifth out of 11 teams.

Gracie Wasson competed in the 7th-grade girl's division 100 meter hurdles and placed second, running a new PR of 20.28. In the 200 meter hurdles she took second place, running a new PR of 36.88. In triple jump she placed third with a jump of 25'4.5". In high jump she was fifth with a jump of 3'5". She won pole vault with a vault of 5'.

"She did a great job showing how much she has improved in strength this year," Coach Wasson said. "She scored 38 points and that placed her 5th out of 10 teams at the meet."
