One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, May 3, 2023

The family of Evelyn Murdock visited Whitewater recently.

There was a school concert at the Whitewater school on Tuesday. All the music was very good. Sommer Green sang Shenandoah, which was very beautiful.

Many students are in various sports. Rory Green plays golf in Malta. The track team is getting in shape. However, the tracks in Whitewater and most of the town are too wet yet for track meets. But good luck to all.

Some students went to proms in Malta and Hinsdale. The girls wore beautiful gowns.

Several Whitewater music students went to the State Music Festival in Billings. Congratulations to them. As a pianist and music teacher, I realize how much time and practice it takes.

Welcome back to Whitewater to Justin Austin, who returned to help with ranch work at the Austin ranch, and also to visit family and friends in the area.

There was a carnival at the school on Thursday, April 27th. There were games, Bingo, and lunch. Carnivals are fun!

Spring should be here. The snow is gone, but the wind is blowing hard.

Whitewater Creek has overrun its banks and flooded. It has gone down some. In Austin Flat’s Meadow, the water is really high. This is great for the hay field, but it may not be down enough to hay.

The duck pond is full, a few ducks are back, and some geese. Glad to see them swimming in the water instead of the ice.

Now that calving is done, farmers are planning their seeding. Most crops here are wheat or oats. Some are trying other seeding. Good luck to all who are farming.

Have a good week.

Helen A.
