Post #57 honored with three awards

The Montana District 2 meeting of the American Legion was held on September 30th in Chinook, Mont. About 60 members of the American Legion of Montana met and during that meeting the local American Legion Post #57 of Malta was honored with a trio of awards.

The Malta Post #57 received a Children & Youth Citation which is a national recognition for Outstanding Achievement in children and youth programs for 2016 - 2017.

Part of that citation was represented by their annual gift of $500 to the Malta Boys and Girls Club. On Monday, December 11 the Post #57 presented the $500 to Sonia Young and Carl Smith of the Malta Boys and Girls Club.

The citation also covers their involvement in the local CloseUp group, youth Shooting Sports, and the Angel program to name a few of the many activities that the Post #57 are involved with.

A 100% American Legion Blue Ribbon was received for maintaining at least 92 members in the Malta Post #57. This State award was only awarded to three Posts in Montana.

The Recognition of Post Excellence was presented to the Malta Post #57 who have demonstrated excellence in serving their community above and beyond all expectations. In keeping with the aims of our preamble, this post and its's members have displayed exemplary efforts through their 'Devotion to Mutual Helpfulness'.
