Born August 11, 1924, to parents Herman and Ethel (Chapman) Nitz. Raymond grew up the fifth of seven children in the Wagner community west of Malta, MT. Raymond worked most of his life in fields related to farming and ranching except for the short while that he was a Fuller Brush salesman. Right after that he managed the Super America store in Havre for a number of years. In the mid 70's they bought the Hingham Grocery and served that community for a number of years. Ray also worked for surrounding farmers while they owned the grocery. They moved to Great Falls in the mid 90's and spent 13 years there.

Years spent dancing whenever they could and volunteering with RSVP. In their later years they moved to Northern Montana Care Center in Havre where their children could be closer to them and their needs.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy, 2 children, Georgia (Allen) Chinadle of Hingham and Larry (Linda) Nitz of Havre and 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
