Housing Study Kick Off Meeting to be held in Malta

On Thursday, October 15th at 5 p.m. the City of Malta will be holding a Housing Study Kickoff meeting at City Hall. Residents are encouraged to attend this meeting and share their thoughts about the housing needs, barriers, and opportunities in their communities.

The Housing Study is a collaboration between the Cities of Chinook, Harlem, and Malta which will analyze and prepare recommendations to address housing needs in the 3 similar sized communities. For many years, the lack of quality, affordable housing has played a large role in the difficulty that rural communities experience in accommodating the elderly and attracting businesses and professionals. This study, which will be carried out by KLJ Engineering, will help Chinook, Harlem, and Malta look at how the housing options are affecting seniors, fixed-income individuals, young families, and professionals; seek input about the desired options; and propose options for increasing housing variety and availability.

Public involvement is crucial to this study as it will help broaden the understanding of housing issues, possibilities for improvement, and desired outcomes. The kickoff meeting will also be an opportunity for community members to learn more about the project timeline, next steps, and opportunities to be involved.

The Cities of Chinook, Harlem, and Malta encourage you to attend these meetings in your community to share your thoughts on this important issue.

The meetings will be conducted in Malta at the following location:

· Chinook: City Hall, 300 Ohio Street at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, October 14th

Malta: City Hall, 39 S 2nd Street at 5:00 PM on Thursday, October 15th

Questions about the project can be directed to: John How, KLJ, Project Manager, 406-548-5667, [email protected].
