Anne M. Caves

SACO-Anne M. Caves, 84, a teacher and homemaker, died Wednesday, December 09, 2015 at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook.

Funeral services were Saturday, December 12, at the Saco Lutheran Church. Interment was in the Grandview Cemetery at Saco. Condolences for the family may be left atwww.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Anne Marie (Bogeholz) Caves was born March 25, 1931, to Gustav and Martha Bogeholz in Malta. As an only child of German immigrants, she attended Saco Schools, graduating in 1949. She went on to attend Northern Montana College, graduating in 1951 with an Associate Degree in Elementary Education.

She married James Caves, a high school classmate, that same year in Saco. She taught at Cree Crossing School and later was a substitute teacher at Saco Schools for years once her children were grown. In 1952, she joined Jim for his final months of military service in Honolulu, HI, otherwise living on her grandfather's homestead until moving into a nursing home environment. As a life-long member of Saco Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday school and orchestrated many Christmas programs, helped for years with the church's quilting and was a member of the Saco Cemetery Board. She was very proud of her involvement in both the Malta and Saco TOPS groups.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, Terry. She is survived by her four daughters, Vicke Schend of Missoula, Anita (Dwight) Freeman of Saco, Mardy (Lecil) Demarais of Malta, and Brenda (Shane) Lammerding of Saco; nine grandsons, Scott (Sara) Larson and Derrek (Alice) Larson of Missoula, Jim (Rachel) Freeman of Minneapolis, MN, Jeff (Debbie) Freeman of Denver, CO, Dusty (Sky) Freeman of Helena, MT, Mitch and Houston Demarais, of Malta and McCall and Colter Lammerding of Saco, and 5 great-grandchildren. She and Jim were so very proud of their grandsons.

Anne spent her last five years at Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook and we wish to express our gratitude for the fine care she received there, as well as at Hi-Line Retirement Center in Malta.
