Congratulations, Cheryl, sorry we couldn't be there

Dear Editor,

I’m sorry I am unable to attend the Grand Re-Opening of the Albertsons store this week but I wanted to publicly express our congratulations, thanks and appreciation to our hometown store manager Cheryl Voegel, her awesome crew and the Albertsons company as a whole.

Several years ago, Cheryl quietly told me, “I’m really working to get Malta a new store, this community deserves it.” It hasn’t been about boosting her resume – it has been about empowering her team, looking beyond corporate confines and understanding the “big picture” that rural economic development is all about building diverse local assets.

I don’t think there is anyone in our community that hasn’t witnessed her tireless commitment and reserved pride over the past months and especially in recent days. She led with her heart and we have our new store – thank you Cheryl, well done!
