City of Malta Landfill Hours

The Landfill will be open Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closed Mondays from noon to 1 p.m. for the lunch hour and closed on Sundays.

Kiwanis Pull-tabs

In the near future Kiwanis will be collecting pull-tabs from aluminum cans. If you have been saving them, please give the pull-tabs to an elementary student or drop them off at the school. Kiwanis gives a prize to the class that collects the most tabs. Funds from the recycled tabs are donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

Grass containers

The grass containers are placed around the city to be used by the elderly or citizens who do not have a pickup to haul their grass clippings to the landfill. Commercial lawn mowing businesses are not to use the grass containers.

Head Start Openings

Malta Head Start has openings for the 2016-17 school year for children who are three-years-old by September 10, 2016 as well as four-year-olds. Enrollment is limited! Please stop at the Head Start office located at 164 S. 10th St. W. or call 654-2005 with any questions.

Malta Ladies Golf League

5-4. The Malta Ladies Golf League is holding their first meeting of the spring at the Tin Cup on Wednesday, May 4 starting at 6 p.m.

American Legion rescheduled

5-5. The Malta American Legion Auxiliary regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 5 has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 12 at 5 p.m.

Healthy Choices Town Hall Meeting

5-5. The Phillips County Coalition for Healthy Choices is hosting a meeting at the Malta High School Auditorium on Thursday, May 5 at 7 p.m. with guest speaker Billy Reamer, MS CHES Prevention Program Manager with the state of Montana. See the ad on page 3B of this week’s PCN.

Wool Pool

5-7. The Hi-Line Wool Pool will be collecting wool on May 7, 2016 from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Malta City Shop, located south of Malta. Questions about delivery or preparation requirements, please contact Marko Manoukian, Phillips County Extension Agent at 406-654-2543 prior to May 5, 2016. All new producers are welcome.

Parks and Rec Meeting

5-9. On Monday, May 9, the Malta City Park and Rec Board will hold their monthly meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.

Historical Society Meeting

5-9. Phillips County Historical Society Meeting, May 9, 6:30 p.m. at the Phillips County Museum. Everyone welcome!

Malta Dirt Daubers

5-9. Malta Dirt Daubers will meet on Monday, May 9 at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck supper and plant sale at the home of Toni Ziegler, 223 Ruby Ave. This is a great time for folks to buy various plants and bulbs being sold by the club. Public is most welcome to attend.

LRRN Meeting

5-12. The Little Rockies Recreation Network will be holding a public meeting on Thursday, May 12 starting at 6 p.m. at the VFW Club. We will be going over our trail map to make sure ALL the trails are on it before it has to be turned in on July 6. Everyone who enjoys the Little Rockies and wants to see the trails left as is, are strongly encouraged to attend.

ALA Memorial Day Celebration

5-12. The American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Day Celebration Planning Meeting will be held on May 12 at 5 p.m. at the VFW Club. All ALA members are encouraged to attend along with others in the community who would like to participate.

MT Veteran Affairs

5-19. On Thursday, May 19, Judy or Steve, service officers for Montana Veteran Affairs, will be at Malta City Hall from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. If you would like to apply for benefits with the VA please come at the appointed time and bring a copy of your discharge/separation (DD214) papers with you. Call 406-265-4225 if you are interested.

5-26. The American Legion Auxiliary Memorial Day Finalization Meeting will be held on May 26 at 5 p.m. at the VFW Club. All ALA members are encouraged to attend along with others in the community who would like to participate.
