Donald R. "Don" Nevrivy

MALTA-Donald R. "Don" Nevrivy, 61, Director of Malta Opportunities, Inc. passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2017, at his home with his family at his side.

Rosary was 6:30 p.m., Sunday, December 3, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel and the sharing of stories followed. Funeral Mass was 10 a.m., Monday, December 4, 2017, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Don was born February 20, 1956, in Bellevue, Neb., to George Q. Nevrivy and Helen Hurt. The family moved to Malta in 1963 and he graduated Malta High School in 1974. Don graduated college with an Accounting degree from UND-Williston in 1976. He moved back to Malta and worked at Weiderrick's Clothing for 20 years. In 1979 he married Barbara Vylasek and had two daughters, Mikey and Stacey.

In 1997 Don became the Executive Director of Malta Opportunities, where he worked until his death. He always thought of the employees and clients as family. He was also a very active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Don is survived by his daughters: Mikey of Malta and Stacey (George) Warburton of Joliet, Ex-wife and good friend Barb Nevrivy of Malta, Brother: Jim (Lynne) Nevrivy of Malta, Sister: Marcia Weber of Conrad, Grandchildren: Sadie, Savana and Jax, 9 nieces and nephews and one very loyal dog, Jigs.
