PCCF announces funding support toward community efforts in Phillips County

The Phillips County Community Foundation (PCCF) is pleased to announce funding support of community efforts that are working to ensure a strong future for Phillips County.

Projects recently funded by the Foundation include Malta Girl Scouts Troops 3994 and 3995 in partnership with the Montana Girl Scout Council. Funds, in the amount of $1,000 will help open up and renovate “Scout House” space to accommodate over 20 girls from the combined troops at their bi-monthly meetings. An additional $250 in grant funds will be used to help offset membership fees and uniforms for new members and encourage increased participation. Troop leaders Macie Hould and Janessa Salsbery state the improved meeting space will create a fun and safe place for Malta girls to learn, grow and explore our community as they earn Girl Scout badges.

Grant funds will also assist RCAN – Rural Community and Agriculture Neighbors to complete a Rural Community Connection Survey. RCAN is a relatively new organization in Phillips County whose mission is to enhance rural communities and sustain working agriculture lands and producers. Megan Pankratz, RCAN board member states that with the survey, they hope to find ways to help support and connect both those involved in agriculture on a daily basis as well as the rural community as a whole. RCAN states they hope to better understand how everyone views agriculture’s future in rural Montana, gain knowledge of what community members are struggling with, and help lead their organization in a direction to better serve the community in pursuit of their mission. PCCF grant funds in the amount of $700 will support their budget that includes an online survey subscription and direct survey printing and mailing costs.

Check awards will be made during the Annual Meeting of the Phillips County Community Foundation scheduled for Monday, April 26, at 5 p.m., at the Marian Hills Tin Cup.

All community members and interested persons are invited. In addition to check presentation, PCCF will report on all funds held by PCCF in partnership with the Montana Community Foundation. Light refreshments will be provided, and the program will take less than one hour.
