Roy George "Putt" Ereaux

Roy George "Putt" Ereaux, 72, passed away May 20, 2021, at his home in Malta, Montana with his family by his side.

Putt was the 8th of 11 children born to Fred and Ilene (Burlingame) Ereaux on January 21, 1949, in Malta. He started 1st grade at the Wagner school. When the family moved to Malta, he attended St Mary's Catholic School, and Malta Public Schools graduating in 1967. After high school, he attended Carroll College and played football for the Fighting Saints.

Putt married Marian Wigen on December 23, 1978, at the family cabin on Nelson Reservoir. They made their home in a log cabin they built in Landusky, Montana. In 1986 they moved to Malta.

Putt was a contractor and finish carpenter by trade. His extraordinary love for the outdoors included trapping, hunting, fishing, outfitting, and camping. He was an active member of the Montana Trappers Association, a board member of the Montana Board of Outfitters, past president of Malta Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited establishing Camp Walleye for kids in Phillips County, and past president of Montana Walleyes Unlimited from 2015 until 2017.

Putt and Marian purchased property along with Lake Roosevelt where he built their retirement home so they could be closer to the kids and grand kids and of course, excellent walleye fishing.

Putt loved his family and friends, hosting backyard barbeques, Thanksgiving dinners, Ereaux family reunions, the 4th of July, taking grand kids fishing and camping, hunting or fishing with family and buddies, the Green Bay Packers, and just enjoying life in general.

Putt is survived by his wife, Marian, of 43 years; daughter Kara and her sons, Jonah and Andrew; and son Kevin (Sarah) with their children, Jasmine, Parker, Scarlet, and Hudson. Sisters Phyllis Harrington, Stella (John) Murray, and Darla (Leo) Barthelmess. Sisters-in-law Jeannie Ereaux, Lynette Ereaux and Jane Ereaux. Numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ilene. Siblings Roger, June, Claris, LaDonna, Ezzie, Carrol, and Byron.

A potluck BBQ for family and friends will be held at 1:00 pm, June 19, 2021, at Putt and Marian's home, 234 South 2nd Street East, Malta, Montana.

Donations in memory of Putt may be made to the Malta Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited, the Malta Volunteer Fire Department, or Phillips County EMTs.

We would like to thank our family and friends who have been here to help us along the way during this difficult time.
