Phillips County Library Receives Award

The Phillips County Library would like to announce that they were awarded an "Excellent Library Service Award" from the Montana State Library Commission in April.

In the letter accompanying the award, State Library Commission Chair, Bruce Newell stated, "I commend you for working toward excellence in a year that tested all of us – our community members, ourselves, and our staff. It was a year when simply completing the bare minimum could be a challenging endeavor, yet you, your staff, and board chose to seek excellence."

There are potentially 850 libraries; school, academic, and public that can apply for the ELSA award. This year only 36 libraries total; one school/community library, two academic libraries, and 33 public libraries met the number of requirements listed by the State Library to receive the award.

The library was able to remain open during a time when many public institutions had to close. It was disheartening to not be able to have group activities, but we commend our Story Time librarian, Sarah Osmundson, on the extra effort she made to produce the online/Facebook Story Time for our littlest patrons. We plan on holding regular, on-premises, Story Time starting in September.

The Phillips County Library Board and staff would like to thank our community for the support and understanding that you have shown us this last year. We love what we do and knowing that we meet excellent standards is very encouraging for us.
