Malta Schools Celebrate Homecoming Week

Fight for the Blue and White was the theme for this years' homecoming in Malta.

High School Principal Shawn Bleth said, "I was very happy with the choice of the theme this year. Having it more pro Malta rather than against Roundup."

The students had Spirit Week with different themes for dress-up each day. Tuesday was Color Wars, Wednesday was Generation Day, Thursday was Athlete vs Mathlete, and Friday was Blue and White Day.

On Friday, the school held a pep rally attended by the entire school K-12. More class competitions were held, speeches were made by the fall sports coaches, and the announcement of this year's Homecoming King and Queen was made.

The class competitions went as follows with the classes getting 10, 7, 5, and 3 points, depending on where they finish:

In the dress-up days during the week, the Junior class won, the Sophomores got second, and the Seniors and Freshmen tied for third. The winner of the dress-up week was determined by what percentage of each class dressed up each day.

At the pep rally, the classes competed in a game called Hungry Hippo. Much like the popular board game, but life-size and a lot more chaotic. The Freshmen class won this competition with the Sophomores getting second, Seniors third, and the Juniors fourth.

The next competition was a fast-paced game of tic-tac-toe. The Freshmen class won this game as well, with the Juniors in second, Seniors third, and Sophomores fourth.

The final competition of the day was the tug-o-war. The Senior class saved face in this competition taking first place, with the Junior class in second, Freshmen class in third, and the Sophomores in fourth.

Giving the overall win to the Freshmen class with a total of 30 points, Juniors in second with 27, Seniors in third with 25, and the Sophomore class in fourth with 20.

Principal Bleth has promised the winning class a pizza party. Rumors are that this promise has been made before and is yet to be fulfilled. We here at the PCN will continue to follow this story and make sure that all classes promised a pizza party receive their prize.

The pep rally ended with the coronation of the King and Queen. Congratulations go out to this years' royalty, King Rex Williamson and Queen Skylie Lefdahl.

Rex is the son of Shey and Lesa Williamson. He has participated in football for four years, basketball for four years, track and field for three years, band for three years, and golf for one year. His future plans are to attend college and major in athletic training.

Skylie is the daughter of Ryan Lefdahl and Jessica Allen. She has participated in volleyball for four years, track and field for four years, basketball for two years, and wrestling manager for two years. She has been in choir for four years, one year of student council, and is the senior class president. Her future plans are to attend college and obtain a degree in psychology.

Following the pep rally, there was a parade through town followed by an awesome game played by the Mustangs. (See Sports Section).
