Shopteese crowned Champion

On Saturday, October 16, representing the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation and Phillips County in the 2021 Billings Martial Arts Open Sparring Tournament, Dodson's Jacob "Knife Man" Shopteese, a 17-year-old, took first place in the fighting portion, first in the sword fight competition, and second in grappling. In the fighting portion, Shopteese, a white belt trained in Shotokan Karate and Taekwondo, defeated seven opponents, with the last two being black belts. Shopteese is trained by Billy Running Fisher, his uncle, an instructor at EagleChild Combatives, who is pictured on the right. "Due to his Aaniiih and Blackfeet heritage and warrior spirit, he stood out amongst his fellow Martial artists and was named tournament grand champion," Running Fisher said. Courtesy Photo.
