Speech and Drama prepares for Divisionals

The Malta Speech and Drama Team is preparing for the Class B/C Divisional Meet in Choteau on Saturday, January 22.

The team last competed on January 8, at the Shelby Invitational.

Izzy Hallenberg got 2nd place in the Dramatic Oral Interpretation category, and Emily Rettinger got 3rd place in the Humorous Oral Interpretation category.

The team was supposed to compete on January 15, at the Power/Simms Invitational, but the meet was canceled due to a rash of various illnesses at the host school.

Coach Anna LaBrie said, “It would have been nice to have that last meet. The girls need the practice and competition would have been great for both of them.”

“We are planning on doing a lot of practice this week,” said Hallenberg. “I plan on working on my piece by myself as well to perfect it. I know we are both pretty nervous, that’s for sure.”

After the girls qualify this weekend (positive thinking!), the State Meet will be held on Friday and Saturday, January 28-29, at Huntley Project.
