P.E.O Chapter AK Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Montana state P.E.O. chapter AK recently celebrated their 75th anniversary. P.E.O. is a philanthropic educational organization that promotes the well-being of women through education.

Chapter AK was organized on April 9, 1947, with Ruth Bruins as their first president. The sisterhood now has 30 active members who help raise monies for scholarships for women.

P.E.O. International owns an all-girl college, Cottey College, in Nevada, Missouri. The local loans (current interest rate of 2%), programs for continuing education, awards for pursuing a doctorate, awards for a senior in college, scholarships for those studying elementary education, and monies for those in the master's program.

P.E.O. has helped numerous Phillips County women achieve their educational goals. Please contact Kay Hould, Sue Kaluza, Jamie Ulrich, or any P.E.O. member for information on our many scholar awards for women. Our main fundraiser is a salad luncheon which will be held at the Little White Church on Wednesday, April 27th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
