One Nation, Under God

Whitewater News & Opinion for Wednesday, August 24, 2022

Again, Smokey the Bear says, “Beware of fires.”

I can’t believe it’s the middle of August. Happy Birthday to all celebrating.

School started here in Whitewater on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. There is no school on Fridays, so school is a four-day week.

When I went to school, it did not start until September, after Labor Day. We had school five days a week. There is one new teacher for this school year. (I’ll get name and more information on school soon.)

Good luck to Hannah Hanley (WHS 2022 graduate). She entered college at Dillon, MT. Her mom, Tracy Hanley, drove her and said, “We miss Hannah!”

Congratulations to Joana (Whitewater teacher) on her recent engagement. Her fiancé is a border patrolman. I’ll get his name later.

Good luck to teachers, students, and staff members for this 2022-2023 school year.

On Saturday, we attended the matinee at the Villa Theatre, “Elvis”. It depicted the life of Elvis Presley, and he sang all the favorites. These included, “Suspicious Minds”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, and others I knew. The best part was that the movie was free for movie goers. We wore red lipstick, scarves, etc., like in the ‘50s. Later, Elvis made a gospel album. It was beautiful.

Does anyone remember the “Drive In” movies? Why don’t they have any anymore?

Weather is hot here.

Have a good week,

Helen A.
