Phillips County Motorsports' Labor Day Weekend

Action at the Hi-Line Drag Strip filled the town over the Labor Day weekend. Drag strip enthusiasts, from across the state, North Dakota, and Canada, spent three days in the warm weather, racing to their heart’s content.

Saturday was Quick 16, which matches eight cars with eight dragsters. Duane Lloyd, from Nashua, was the #1 door qualifier; Britney Thornton, Lewistown, was the #1 dragster qualified. Britney also won the Quick 16 and Rod Taylor, from Kalispell, was runner-up.

The weekend also offered a Gamble Race, for those not in Quick 16. Cory Schultz, from Swift Current, SK., was the winner; the runner-up was Holly Haas, from Havre.

Sunday Dragster event winners: Luke Neset, Tioga, ND; Calvin Campbell, from Shepherd, MT., was runner-up. In the Sportsman Division, winning was Nick Kohut, from Great Falls, MT. Runner-up was Rayce Schultz, of Swift Current, SK.

In the Box Super Pro category, Kalispell’s Rod Taylor won, followed by Reid Hollard, of Worman, SK. The category No Box winners were Chuck Porter of Edmonton, AB., and the runner-up was Modesty Caven, of Havre.

The race of the Golf Carts found two dedicated dragsters placing first and second; Kyle Stahl of Glasgow and Rayce Schultz of Swift Current.

Enduring the third day of heat, the winners emerging were: Junior Dragster-Calvin Campbell, Havre; Sportsman-Alvin Hollats, Plentywood; Pro-Jason Erfl, Billings; and Super Pro-Steve Neiffer of Havre,

The dragstrip will welcome drivers one more weekend, Sept. 17-18, to complete their season.
