Big Money Winners Announced

As fall filled the air, a brisk pace at the dragstrip saw the slowing down and closing out of the 2022 season. Now begins the planning for 2023, dates, changes and updates.

In Saturday’s Junior Big Dollar Race, dragsters from North Dakota swept the winner's ticket with Ansley Enget of Tioga, ND, taking first and fellow Tioga resident, Luke Neset, as runner-up.

Sunday saw Brittney Thorton, of Lewistown, capturing first place in the BDBOX category. Jesse Dobson of Scobey, MT, claimed second. In the BDNOBOX driver, Zachery Carlsen won first over Modesty Caven. Both drivers are from Havre.

The Sunday race was not without action, two race cars met each other at a high rate of speed and were totaled, and thanks to strict safety measures that are adhered to, there were no serious injuries. Both men walked away and walked to the ambulance on their own, a testimonial of the safety factors. Anyone within camera distance left the scene immediately for safety's sake as well. Dan Stout, President of the HLDR extended his thanks to the fire department and ambulance crew for their quick response.

The Hi-Line Dragstrip held their annual banquet at the City Hall on Saturday evening, and approximately 150 people were in attendance. a.m. Shane Carnahan was selected as this year’s Person of Influence. The annual award is presented at the banquet to one who is dedicated to the track and a helping hand. This evening is a fundraiser for the group and there was a live auction, silent auction and 50/50 drawing.

Dan also expressed in an interview “We appreciate the racers and community for the support, with the volunteers who make this happen. That includes those on the track, maintenance, in the crow’s nest, and all those on the ground. We also appreciate the fire department and ambulance crew, too.”
