Community Church Holds Christmas Program

There was "No Room at the Inn," years ago at Christmas time, and there was standing room only Sunday evening at the Malta Community Church as the families and guests gathered for the Christmas program.

Preschoolers and young ladies and gentlemen to fourth grade opened the evening with three selections on the bells. The night and atmosphere were set for a joyous welcome and entertainment.

Linda DeVries, one of the volunteers that had spent hours of time prepping the youth for their performance worthy of a Golden Globe Award welcomed the guests and visitors. Linda was assisted by Angel DeVries, Rhonda DeVries, Carmen Salveson and Amber Olson.

The energy was only outdone by the enthusiasm in little bodies so delicately dressed in taffeta, silk, organza and satin bows as well. The gents were wearing suits and ties, looking nearly as dashing as Rudolph.

Seterah Pekovitch played a solo on her trumpet. Jon Siewing and Charles Idehen played "Mary Did You Know" on the piano and drum, respectively.

The young then presented vocal selections with actions and smiles that radiated and filled the air with peace and hope.

Titus Wiederrick played a medley on the saxophone and Leona Siewing gave a reading. The DeVries and Salveson youth presented "Feels Like Joy." The kindergarten through 4th grade gave the meaning of the "ABC's of Christmas." Seterah performed a vocal, "Silent Night."

Johnny and Suzanne Koss, Linda DeVries, Alan and Rhonda DeVries, Evan DeVries, Paul Siewing, and Charles Idehen sang, "Come Emmanuel."

Pr. Kyle Davies gave the devotional. Following his sharing, the PreK-4th graders completed the story of the Inn Keeper. The costumes brought out the characters in the wee people! The crowd was thoroughly captivated by the innocence of the thespians, they warmed hearts on a chilly evening.

Aaron DeVries closed the program with a thank you; Loren Johnson shared grace before the crowd enjoyed a banquet complete with desserts and homemade pie that topped off the evening.
