ORDINANCE No. 314

An ordinance establishing time limits for parking vehicles n City streets or city property and providing for penalties for Violation of such restrictions.

BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Malta as follows:

SECTION 1: No vehicle shall be parked or left standing upon a city street or on city property for a period longer than five (5) days. (61-8-356 M.A.C.)

SECTION 2: Any person or persons violating the provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance shall be guilty, of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by a fine of not less than $25.00 or more than $300.00 or by imprisonment in the city jail for not less than 5 days or more than 90 days, or by both fine and imprisonment. (61-8-719 M.A.C.)

UNANIMOUSLY PASSED by the Council of the City of Malta on the 8th day of January, 1980, and approved by the Mayor of the City of Malta on the 8th day of January, 1980.

As a reminder to all pet owners within city limits the City of Malta, Ordinance No. 453 states that all dogs and/or cats residing in the city limits are required to be vaccinated and licensed with the City on or before January 1 st of each year. Animal licenses can be obtained at the City Clerk’s office for a fee of $10.00 and proof of current rabies vaccination.

Any animal found running at large whether licensed or unlicensed, any dog in a public recreation area not controlled by leash, any animal disturbing the peace (10:00 pm to 7:00 am are quiet hours), any animal that interferes with the freedom of movement of people in a public right-of-way is considered a nuisance animal and may be impounded and/or the owner issued a citation.

It is unlawful for any person, family or group in the same dwelling to maintain more than three (3) dogs and/or three (3) cats over the age of six (6) months.
