PSCO Responds to Threat at MES

On Friday, March 24, 2023, the Phillips County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Malta Elementary School regarding a student stating a firearm was present in their backpack on school property.
Deputies investigated the incident and it was discovered that the student was referring to a past incident that happened at the school and, in joking fashion, had in fact made the statement about having a firearm in a backpack.
No firearm was located and the individual stated that they have never had a firearm in their backpack at school or at other times.
