Under the heading, "Life at Zortman" we find that a Mr. Swag and a Mr. Murray had got involved with the law. Mr. Swag was up before one Judge Baird for a minor offense. He protested in a loud and boisterous manner on the way Judge Baird was dispensing justice. Baird fined him $10 for contempt of court. Swag put up the money and said it was entirely inadequate to express the contempt in which he held the court. Baird retaliated by sentencing him to 30 days in jail. Swag again gave the judge the "merry ha ha" and said for that amount he could stand on his head for the time mentioned and still have a better understanding of the law than did Baird. Back came the court with a 60-day sentence and Swag was hurriedly removed from the scene before he could further express his opinion.
